In order to successfully implement our digitization strategy, we depend on creative solutions from motivated employees. We are therefore aware of the strategic importance of diversity and see heterogeneity as an opportunity to use the different skills of a multi-faceted workforce for the success of our company. We therefore promote the integration and use of cultural and social diversity and sensitize our employees to create an environment in which everyone feels accepted and valued.
For us, creativity means exploiting the diversity of nationalities and genders. Therefore, not only the diversity of nationalities is an important concern, but also the integration of women in specialist and management positions. We have not only set ourselves the goal of increasing the proportion of women in management positions throughout the Group, but have already incorporated this into our strategy and implemented it. For example, the proportion of women at management levels 1 to 3 below the Board of Management increased from 8% in 2011 to 14% in 2014 and rose to 16% by the end of 2018. The proportion of women in management is to rise to 20 % by 2020.
